As the subject says.
I have sent my heroes out in all different directions. They are beyond the view of my city. It is now a pain remembering who is where in relation to my city. If you get confused and start walking north when the town is south next thing you know is your lost.

yes the co-ords helped me get home. I was just suggesting an easier way.
I understand how to use the coords but its more work. I dont work w/ charts and such so it's quit taxing on the ole brain to try and paint an accurate picture of my surroundings. This may make me sound dumb, but i can't be the only one that finds this troublesome.
It' s nice to get a visual on where everyone is in relation to each other.
I can see it coming in handy when the empires get bigger, and there is more to keep track of.
It would also be nice t have a bigger view for things like building new cities, so you can get a better idea of who/what is around you.

P.S> I'd even find it helpful if there was at least a grid overlay showing the coords

I have trouble navigating my troops as well.
Eventhough, I can read the map quite easily, there is always the question if I should take the road or not.
I can take the road and first go east and then go south, or I can take the plains and simply move diagonal to my destination with fewer total AP.

But the question is, will there be obstacles like mountains, lakes and forests slowing down my diagonal movement?

I think it'll be better to allow us to zoom into the World Map, and see the terrestrial objects. Like done in a satellite image.
But the cities and units should be kept in fog of war. As in, they can be seen when they come into your troop's line of sight.

What do you think?

I thought abut the whole fog of war aspect, but didnt want to make assumptions as to why things are the way they are. I really just want to navigate more easily. Also didnt want to have a whole chain of changes wrapped into one post. I would be all for a fog of war, but would still like to scroll or zoom.

might be helpful to include a mini-map in the lower right corner of the UI... doesn't need to include settlements or armies... just terrain

a mini up is all that we need.
Like in real life you dont have the capability to fly and have a sattelite view. Besides, adding the fog effect to areas like cities, armies, forests isnt it that itll be easy to determine where youre enemies are? Like fog = possibility that theres a castle. It also helps us players to be hidden to enemies.

And besides, its more intriguing to know what is unknown like in horror movies.

Everything yu have said, i felt that. I was also lost and my last option was to go to a forest and look for an orc to kill me so that my hero will be on tavern lol
