At first I thought its because I didn't have the appropriate building. But I cant even buy those units I have buildings for... Is it because I am still under the dark aura effect? Or is it a bug?

Yes, I have the gold, but still all I get is 'cannot buy'.

Probably you've moved, so no newbie rules apply to you.
Then you can't send troops to the castle (or buy from) that is less than 2 weeks old.
That is a cheat fix, so that settlements cannot be misused as a war object.

Yes, I moved my starting hero to another continent to join my current clan. Thank you for reply and clarification of the rules.
