Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise has now added contact tracing to its in-room asset tracking solution.
With meter-level accuracy, the solution enables instant location of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons, which can be worn by people or attached to critical equipment, as well as real-time and historical contact tracing. The solution is an evolution of the company’s OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking solution, a key part of its indoor tracking services portfolio.
“The global health crisis has highlighted the need for organizations to have a method of contact tracing to keep track of close physical contact between individuals, in order to protect their employees and customers,” said the ‘business.
“Real-time contact tracing also allows organizations to monitor the number of people present in a specific area and apply social distancing measures by establishing active density control.”
Visualization, which supports sensitive area density monitoring and contact tracing, allows businesses to:
- Define an area to monitor.
- Identify the number of individuals in the area.
- Notify the personnel concerned according to precise criteria (for example, exceeding a limit or the number of people entering a site exceeding the capacity limits).
- Use analytics to trace location history and contact flow. Allow customers to edit instant reports showing contact locations and flows, highlighting time and distance.
“Contact tracing has become an essential feature for Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise customers, particularly in industries such as healthcare or hospitality,” said Laurent Bouchoucha, vice president of business development for Alcatel- Lucent Enterprise.
“Adding this high-performance, data-rich functionality to our OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking solution was important in meeting the changing demands brought about by social distancing in public spaces. “
Since its launch in 2020, the OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking solution has tracked the assets of critical items and people with cost-effective BLE indoor tracking technology. The system also provides valuable insight and location information through historical and real-time positioning data and analytics, helping to improve productivity and optimize workflow.
The solution uses the OmniAccess Stellar AP1201BG gateway, which can serve as both a BLE gateway for asset tracking and a BLE beacon for location-based services. It provides cloud connectivity over an existing Wi-Fi or LAN infrastructure and eliminates the need for a separate BLE infrastructure for asset tracking or location-based services.
“OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking enables assets to be located and individuals’ movements to be tracked in real time from a mobile device or web-based management tool,” said Stephan Robineau, executive vice president of ALE, Network Business Division.
“It can track more than the location of your assets, it enables analytics on usage patterns and locations. Our overlay solution works with the ALE unified fabric, including the latest BLE enhanced Wi-Fi 6 access points, but also the existing infrastructure. This makes the OmniAccess Stellar Asset Tracking solution easy to implement and particularly beneficial for large facilities with many devices and personnel. “
